Artist Biography For The Modest Fellow Position
The Huntington West Virginia Based Modest Fellow Position Formed Of Joshua Sanders And Matt Marshall In The Summer Of 2004. The Two Early Childhood Friends Initiated Their Music Making Around Step Sequencing VST Synths And Sample Chopping Inspired By Electonic Outfits Like Orbital Boards Of Canada And Daft Punk Incorperating Lots Of Repeating Electronic Dance Style Music Formats And Conventions
. As They Found Interest In Listening To More Intellegent Dance Music Artists Like Aphex Twin Squarepusher Daedelus And Wagon Christ Spastic Drum Patterns And Irregular Song Structures Became Prevalent. In 2007 There Was A Shift To More Of A Focus On Live Instrumentation As Josh Began Playing The Guitar And Matt Began Percussing About A Drum Set And Both Began Learning More About Music Theory. With This New Perspective And A New Found Interest In The Progressive Rock Movement The Resulting Expressions Found Themselves Affected. Using Less Glitch-Esque Breakbeats And More Realistic Samples Often Omitting Drums Completely And Making More Of A Point To Have Harmonious Compositions.
