Thomas Leer And Robert Rental Were A Late-1970s Industrial Music Duo From The UK. Leer Real Name Thomas Wishart Born In 1953 And Rental Real Name Robert Donnachie 1952 - 2000 Were Born And Raised In Port Glasgow Scotland. The Formed A Short-Lived Punk Band In 1976 Before Deciding That Electronic Music Was The Future. The Both Released DIY Solo Singles In 1978. They Released One Album On Throbbing Gristle's Industrial Records In 1979 Titled "The Bridge". Recorded Over Two Weeks The Album's Style Involved Electro-Pop And Industrial Music. The Duo Never Played Live Rental Was Playing Live With Daniel Miller's Alter-Ego The Normal At The Time And Didn't Release Any Other Music As A Duo. Both Artists Pursued A Solo Career Although In Rental's Case It Was Very Short As He Quit Music In 1980 Retreating Into Family Life. Rental Died In October 2000 Of Lung Cancer.
