Artist Biography For Valery Gore

Canadian Artist Valery Gore Set Out To Claim New Territory On Her Third And Upcoming Album Idols In The Dark Heart. Between The River’s Ruckus And The Slow Settling Of A Branch-Snapping Forest Her Muses Were Planted. Over The Course Of Four Years She Had A Village. Every Last Bit Of Time And Care Pushed Gore’s Musical Ideas In Dynamic And Affecting Ways In Which Lush Layers Of Organic Instrumentation Kissed The Hand Of Electronic Waveforms. A Barrage Of Juno Synth Melodies Reminisce Of Foreign Places Earth-Vibrating Moog Bass Lines Bring ‘party’ To Devastated Faces. For Every Life Altering Heartache Wept Strings And Moment Of Pensive Contemplation Four Mallets On A Vibraphone There Is An Abiding Strength To Turn Around And Start Over With A Blaring Baritone Sax To Suit The Strut . Her Cryptic Lyrical Vignettes And Inherently Confessional Voice Mortar These Layers Of Woven Harmonies And Melodic Hooks Along A Backbone Of Programmed Surreal Soundscapes. Valery Was A Pianist First Training Formally From The Age Of Eight And Eventually Developed Her Classical Chops Into Conceptual Songwriting With A Shift To Jazz Studies At Humber College. Two Albums Later Gore Aspired To Write A Collections Of Songs With Rhythm Being The Forethought Of New Ideas Fundamentally Crafting The Songs Around A Drum Phrase Or Bass Line While The Piano Made Room For The Conversing Of Guests. This Lime-Light Sharing Between Instruments Leaves Us With An Altogether Complex Album In Terms Of Texture And Structure But With Its Pop Smarts And Accessibility Pleasantly Intact. Co-Producing Idols With Her Long-Time Bassist Devon Henderson Gave Their Musical Exploration A Natural Unfolding Passing Fleshed Out Demos Back And Forth Prior To Entering The Studio. Working Closely With Producer/Engineer Dean Nelson Beck Jamie Lidell Charlotte Gainsbourg And Chris Stringer Timber Timbre The Wooden Sky Strengthened The Angle In Which Gore Wanted Her Music To Reach Listeners The Outcome Being Her Most Intricate And Emotionally Mature Project To Date.
