Mamoru Samuragoch Or Samuragôchi 佐村河内守 Samuragoch Mamoru Is A Japanese Composer For Film Television And Most Notably Video Games. He Was Born In 1963 In Hiroshima And According To His Mother Began Creating His First Compositions For Marimba At Age 5. He Himself Remembers Composing His Own Music At Age 10. As A Child Samuragoch Studied Piano But He Learned To Compose On His Own. When Samuragoch Was 24 He Was Diagnosed With A Severe Hearing Disability And Is Almost Completely Deaf Today. This Condition Made Him A Certain Celebrity In Japan Which He Fears Could Be A Distraction From Objective Critique Of His Work. For Many Years Samuragoch Retained The Image Of An Outcast And Kept Working As A Video Store Clerk Or Street Sweeper Rather Than Composing Music For TV Dramas He Considered Unwatchable. His Breakthrough Came Around 1997 When He Was Asked To Compose For A TV Film Called Kosumosu Also Known As Remembering The Cosmos Flower . In 1998 He Went On To Craft A Symphony To The Well Known Video Game BIO HAZARD Known As Resident Evil In The Rest Of The World Called "BIO HAZARD Symphony Op. 91～Crime And Punishment". In 1999 He Scored The Famous Game 鬼武者 Known As Onimusha Warlords Outside Japan . The Production Of The Score Was Particularly Hard For Samuragoch As He Completely Lost His Hearing In The Middle Of The Process. He Reportedly Composed A Large Part Of The Score In The Hospital Using A Workprint Of The Game With Subtitles Added Especially For Him So He Could Write The Score Around The Dialogues As He Couldn't Hear The Sound. Today Even Though He Says The Worst Thing For Him Is Not Being Able To Hear His Own Music Played By An Orchestra He Remains Optimistic And Thinks Of Losing His Hearing As A Gift From God.
