Paisley Hu 胡蓓蔚 Born 12 November 1971 Is A Chinese Singer And Popular TV Personality. She Was First Discovered By Tats Lau Of The Legendary Tat Ming Pair And Has Released 3 Albums And 1 EP Since The Start Of Her Career In The Mid-90s. In Recent Years She Has Focused Her Attention Mainly On TV Work Becoming A Regular TV Host On Music Programmes For TVB. Hu's Formative Years Were Spent In Shanghai Where She Received Musical Training In Italian Opera. She Later Moved To San Francisco Where She Was Exposed To R&B And Jazz Stylings And Studied Under Jazz Singer Faith Winthropp. Her First Release In 1994 Was A Jazz Album On An Independent Label Sung In Her Native Mandarin And Produced By Tats Lau. She Signed With Major Hong Kong Record Label Go East In 1996 Then Home To Popular Acts Such As Kelly Chen And Anthony Wong Yiu Ming And In The Following Years Released Music Noted For A More Alternative Pop Flare. Her 1997 Follow-Up Album 就係... Was Released To Lukewarm Reception. She Drew Frequent Comparisons In Her Vocal Resemblances To Faye Wong Though Many Of Which Dismissed Her As Merely Being A "bootlegged Version" "翻版王菲" Of The Pop Icon. She Went On Hiatus In The Years Following The Release Of That Album And Has Since Shifted Her Attention Mainly On Being A TV Personality. Since The Early 2000s Hu Has Become A Popular TV Host For Music Programmes On TVB And Has Also Managed To Release One Mandarin Album In 2002 For The Taiwanese Market. She Made A Return To The Hong Kong Music Scene In Late 2007 With The EP "Don't Think Just Do". Hu Has Made A Number Of Musical Collaborations Throughout Her Career. She Has Worked And Recorded With Tats Lau Jan Lamb And Anthony Wong Yiu Ming In The Mid-90s And Edison Chen In 2005. As Of 2008 She Is Married To Pal Sinn Former Member Of Influential 80s Hong Kong Rock Band Blue Jeans And A Regular Songwriter On Her Albums. She Counts More Recent Acts Such As Hins Cheung And Kay Tse Along With Veteran Media Personality Eric Tsang As Among Her Admirers.
