Artist Biography For A Woman Of No Importance
A Woman Of No Importance Was An Acoustic Indie-Pop Band From Newcastle And Durham In The North East Of England. The Band Embraces Pop Sensibilities But Has A Strong DIY Ethic And A Love For Odd Instruments And Lush String Arrangements. The Band Started Out As An Acoustic Guitar Duo - Marc On Main Vocals And Left-Hand Guitar Matt On Backing Vocals And Right-Hand Guitar. After Playing Together For Some Time In And Around The Tyne & Wear Area They Decided To Expand Their Sound And Added A Drummer Andrew Matt's Younger Brother And Bassist Rye . Matt Started Experimenting With Wine Glasses After Watching A Documentary On Björk And Soon After Developing This Idea Followed Songs Including Melody Harp And A Button Melodian. These Forrays Into New Aural Horizons Brought On The Addition Of A Small String Section - Clare On Violin And Sarah On Cello - Which Has Added A Sense Of Grandeur To Their Music.
