Again We Have A Voice That Begs For Inclusion In The DiscoMuseum And Again An Exhaustive Search Has Turned Up Very Little On Bruni Pagan. We First Noticed Bruni When She Did Vocals For The Late Herbie Mann On His 1978 Disco Outting "Super Mann." The Album Had The Hits "Jisco Dazz" And "Superman." And Bruni Was In Stellar Company For Christine Wiltshire Venus Dodson Jocelyn Shaw Leroy Burgess And Patrick Adams Were Also A Part Of The Album. In Fact A Friendship Between Pagan Mann And Adams Led To Mann And Adams Contributing Their Talents The Following Year For Bruni's Only Solo Album. 1979's "Just Bruni" Was A Wonderful Album Ripe With Disco Jazz Ballads And Soulful Numbers. The First 12" Single Was "Fantasy." An Easy Going Number With Backgrounds By Holly Oas Christine Wiltshire And Bruni. It Raced Up The Club Charts And Landed In The Top Ten. The Second 12" Single "Lovers" Written By Adams Didn't Fare As Well. Not That It Isn't As Good But Part Of The Reason Was It's Timing. It Was Released Too Late After The First Single And It Was Recorded Before And Released After The Disco Back-Lash. By Then Elektra Had Given Up Promoting Anything In The Club Market So It Was Doomed From The Start. The Other Four Tracks On The Album Were Fun Also. "Don't Be So Mean In Your Jeans " Was Campy And "It's The Scene " "You Refuse To See" And "Late For Love" All Show Bruni's Warm Voice And Easy Going Style. The Album Came And Went Fairly Quickly And Is Considered A Collector's Item Today. We Do Know That Bruni Had A Son Erick As She Thanks Him On The Liner Notes Of The Album. And We Also Know That She Had Friends Gwen Guthrie And Luther Vandross Appearing On The Album. But The Album Reveals Very Little About Bruni The Person. The Next Last And Only Other Information We Have Is That Bruni Did Vocals For Puerto Rican Musician Dave Valentin's 1983 Album "Flute Juice" Album. She Co-Wrote And Did The Vocals On "Loquita Crazy Lady ." The Cut Was Given An Excellent Disconet Remix And Has Become A Cult Classic.
