Artist Biography For Christopher William Pierce

Born In Arizona In 1974 Mr. Pierce Grew Up In Phoenix Studying At Arizona State University And Later At The Peabody Conservatory And The Aspen Music Festival And School As A Composition Fellow Under Christopher Rouse And Nicholas Maw. Other Composers He Has Studied With Are Christopher Theofanidis James DeMars And Dello-Joio. He Is Currently A Doctoral Student At The University Of Toronto Under Gary Kulesha. Among The Many Awards He Has Received Is The Top Prize In The Macht Orchestral Composition Competition The Virginia Carty De-Lillo Prize For Chamber Music P. Bruce Blair Award In Composition And An ASCAP Award. He Has Also Been Honored In Recent Years With Fellowships And Grants From The National Arts Centre Ottawa Peabody Conservatory The Aspen Music Festival And The Leonard Bernstein Fund. His Work Is Performed Frequently Throughout The U.S. Canada South America And Europe. Among His Recently Completed Works Are Images For String Quartet And Guitar Commissioned By Guitarist Rob MacDonald On A Poem Of Baudelaire Je T'adore À L'égal De La Voûte Nocturne From Les Fleurs Du Mal For Soprano Kathryn Aaron Suite For Guitar For Rob MacDonald String Quartet In Three Movements Quartetto Invitato . Mr. Pierce Is Currently Working On A Solo Cello Piece For Rebecca Turner And A Work For Orchestra Titled Work For Orchestra In Five Unequal Parts.
