When Cornflames Released Their Debut Cd ‘…Tonight Soon Or Forever’ Back In 2000 Both Press Concert Organisers And Musicfans Immediatly Fell In Love With This Talented Emorock/popnoise Outfit. Their Mature Sound Existing Out Of Guitardriven Melodies And Passionate Chorusses In Combination With A Great Gift For Songwriting Impressed A Whole Lot Of People In And Outside Of Belgium. As A Result The Band Was Invited To Various Big Festivals Like Pukkelpop Rock Herk Groezrock Suikerrock Ieper Fest Funtime Festival And Many Others. Besides These Festivals Cornflames Played A Whole Lot Of Clubshows And Did Some Small Tours In Countries Like France The Netherlands Austria Germany Slovenia And Italy . They Shared Stages With Bands Like Karate Elliott International Noise Conspiracy Get Up Kids Pop Unknown Piebald Jimmy Eat World Further Seems Forever .... At The End Of 2002 The Band Decided To Stop Playing Live For A While. The Band Wanted To Focus Completely On The Songwriting Process. It Took Them More Than A Year To Fit The Pieces Together And Create A Collection Of New Songs Put Them On Tape And Release Them But All We Can Say That It Was Bloody Well Worth The Wait. Cause ‘the Farewell Drive’ Turned Out To Be An Impressive Collection Of Great Emotional Songs With Catchy Chorusses And Melodies You’ll Be Singing Along To After Just One Listen. Both Jeroen And Eppo Are Taking Care Of The Lead Vocals Now And This Fine Interaction Pays Off In A Fantastic Way. In The Meantime The Band Managed To Write Some New Songs. Songs That Show A More Rocking And Edgy Side Of The Band. A Little Faster And Harsher But Still In Touch With That Characteristic Feel For Melody And Vocal Harmony. Cornflames Enlarged Their Audience With This Fine Piece Of Art Backed Up By Intimate Lyrics And That Typical Melancholic Touch.Two Singles ‘The Speakers’/’Soften The Blow’ Were Taken From The Album And Got Daily Airplay On Belgian National Radio Studio Brussel And Local Radiostations All Over Europe And The Videoclip For ‘The Speakers’ Was On All Belgian And Dutch Music Channels. Since The Release Of The Album Cornflames Played Over 80 Shows In A Year Of Which An Appearance At Groez Rock With Sick Of It All The Bronx Ten Foot Pole Strung Out … And A 10-Day European Tour Were The Massive Highlights. Enter March 2005. Cornflames Hit Déstudio In Asse To Start Recording Their Brandnew Cdep Including Four ‘fresh’ Songs And A Cover Version Of An Inspiral Carpets Classic.
