"Demonios Da Garoa" Is Known As The Oldest Group By The "Guinness BooK Of Records". Formed In 1942 On The Brazillian Neighborhood Called Mooca Where There Is A Strong Italian Influence Located On The State Of São Paulo. Initialy Called "Grupo Do Luar" Moonlight Group They Used To Play "serenatas" Molodic Love Songs Through Out The Night.
In 1943 After Winning A Contest On One Of The Famous Brazillian Radio Networks Called Bandeirantes They Signed A Contract With "Emissoras Unidas" Wich Consisted On The Association Of The Radio Networks Bandeirantes Record Panamericana And São Paulo. They Played 3 Times A Week And Were A Big Sucess.
A Journalist Called Vicente Leporace That Was A Coleague At Emissoras Unidas Sugested Them To Change The Name Of The Band Because The Word Group In Brazil Was Associated With An Illegal Activity Called "Jogo Do Bicho" Animal Game . They Had A Contest With The Listeners Asking Them To Send Their Name Ideas. It Was A Huge Sucess And Finally The Perfect Name Was Sent. Demonios Da Garoa Drizzle's Devils Was A Perfect Name Since São Paulo Was Known As "Terra Da Garoa" Drizzle's Land And They Played Devilishly Well.
In 1950 They Recorded Their First Album After Signing With Odeon Now Called EMI . They Won Many National Prizes Anda Made A Huge Sucess Since.
When Asked Why They Formed A Band Their Answer Is That After Hearing From Everyone That São Paulo Didn't Have Good Samba And That Rio De Janeiro Would Always Be The Best They Decided To Show Them Wrong. They Are A Big Influence On Brazillian Music And Have Perfomed Songs Written By Famous Brazillian Writters Of The 50's As Adoniran Barbosa And Many Others. read less
