Starting On Turntables At The Age Of 10 He Quickly Took Hold Of Freestyle And House Music. House Music And Freestyle Has It's Roots Planted Deep Within The City Walls. It Seemed Splicing Tapes Together During The House And Freestyle Mixes Was Just Another Way For Him To Keep The ‘funk’ Going. It Wasn’t Until He Moved To Florida That He Heard A Genre Of Music Called 'breakbeat'. Studying Tricks From DMC Finalist DJ Craze And Performing In A Mix-Off Against DJ Exotic E At 'In The Dark Dj Store' And Later Being Judged By World Renowned DJ Laz & DJ George Acosta The Following Years Johnny Realized His Calling – Moving Back To Chicago To Pursue His Career In Entertainment He Started Pushing What He Learned In Florida Here In Chicagoland. The Road Has Been A Continuous Uphill Battle With The Chicago Music Scene. Johnny Would Have To Fly Down To Florida To 'The DJ Superstore' Working With Herbie 'Carjul's Miami' And 'In The Dark Records' Working With Edgar V And Listen Through Breakbeat Tracks And Then Fly Back To Chicago Just To Play Breakbeat Prior To Any Internet . The Record Stores In Chicagoland Had Not A Single Breakbeat Record In Stock. Record Stores From Just Dance Superdance To Another Level And Gramaphone's Never Had The 'want' Or 'need' To Import Breakbeat Records. When Pushed To Finally Start Getting Some In Most Of The Stores Had Older Tracks From Artists Six Months Back This Was Obvious Since Johnny Had Them From Florida Before They Made Their Way To Chicago . In 1994 He Started Plumber Productions And Released His First 'underground' Breakbeat Mix Tape Called ‘Just Messin Around’ Throughout Florida Using The Software Cubase. Since 1997 ‘plumber Productions’ Turned Into ‘Revelation Records & Productions’ And Then To ‘Rev2studios’ And Finally Today Into ‘Glasskitten’. Releasing Several PROMO BREAKBEAT Mix Cds Such As ‘The Annihilation’ ‘Progressive Vs. Con Vol. 1’ ‘Progressive Vs. Con Vol. 2’ ‘Rock On’ And ‘Hip Hop Breaks’. In 2003 Johnny B Launched A Tour To Help Promote The Fact That Breakbeat Not Only Lives In Chicago But That He Is Helping Lead The Breakbeat Movement. The Tour Promoted His Latest Demo Mix Comp. The Cd Which Was Released Later That Year Titled ‘The Launch Of Johnny Breaks Chicago’ Had A Pull Out Poster Of All The Events He Performed At On Tour. In 2005 He Launched The First Ever All Breakbeat Radio Station Out Of Chicago Called ‘Chicago Breaks Live Radio 24/7’ Which Has Listeners Now Listening To Breakbeat Music From ALL Over The World. In 2006 He Formed The ‘Chicago Breaks Movement’ Which Is A Movement Towards The Advancement Of Breakbeat Music Throughout Chicagoland In Anyway Possible. Let's Rewind He Created The ‘Concrete Mixing Technique’ In 1996 Using An Existing European Based Software Called 'Arkaos'. Johnny Was One Of The First In The US To Openly Use The Software ..Prior To VDJ Era. That's Right You Heard It Here First. Visuals Have Been Played At Raves & Clubs Way Before 96' By Actual Video Or Visual Companies Or Individuals But Up Until That Point No Dj Actually Controlled Those Visuals Live As They Played Yet Alone Put Them Into A Mix Cd Format Directly In Sync With The Music That We Know About Which Allowed A DJ To Be More Creative With Their Mixes Using Visuals And Titles And Which After Several Years Can Finally Be Witnessed First Hand On Youtube. Unfortunately The Concept Never Took Off And In Fact Was Knocked Down By Many Within The 'breakbeat' World Especially Overseas. First The Cd Was Not Licensed It Was A Promo Cd. In Chicago Promo Cds Were Sold At All Dj Stores- Every Well Known DJ From Chicagoland Knows This Fact- It Might Not Have Been Right But It Was Reality . What Made 'his' Cd So Different Was What Was On The Backside. Since The Back Of His 'cd' Had Only Titles Of The Actual 'mixes' Between Songs That Johnny Made Instead Of What All Typical Cds Had Which Was The 'Artist' And 'name Of Song' Therefore Causing A Big Misunderstanding Within The Community.
