He Was Born Kemar Lewis June 16 1988 In Jamaica A Kingstonian Who Spent His Formative Years In Trelawny He Now Resides In Hellshire St. Catherine Jamaica. At One Point His Stage Name Was DIHIGH1 But He Quickly Changed It To Leon Lewis Which Was Easier To Remember And Pronounce. Camperdown High School Was The Place Where His Talent Was First Unearthed. Clashes Would Be Staged On Fridays And Classrooms Would Be Filled With Eager Students Who Came To Hear Their School’s Deejays And Singers Battle To Prove Who Was Best. After Watching Several Of These School Contests Leon Decided That He Had The Talent To Perform. He Went Home Wrote Two Songs And Got Some Of His Friends To Listen. They Immediately Agreed That He Needed To Enter The “Friday Clash” When It Was His Time To Perform He Sang The First Song And Pandemonium Broke Out As The Entire Room Started To Cheer By Hitting Desk And Windows. His Second Song Got An Even A Bigger Roar From The Students. Lewis Became Renowned At Camperdown High School For His Lyrical Prowess. He Gained A Wealth Of Experience From Previously Being A Part Of A Group Act Which Was Comprised Of Students From Camperdown High School. The Group’s First Studio Experience Was At Studio Mix Located In Waterhouse Kingston Where They Did A Recording On The “Spiritual War Riddim” Titled "Inna Di Ghetto” The Group’s First Performance Was At Camperdown High School’s "Evening Of Excellence" 2007 . After High School The Members Of The Group Went Their Separate Ways. Leon Started Writing And Developing His Craft Until He Recorded His First Solo Demo In 2008 With Producer/ Musician Dwayne “Wiya” Campbell Of The Band C-Sharp. Wiya Taught Leon How To Record And Utilize His Vocals. Leon And His Friends Formed A Promotional Group At The Time Called Empiricism Promotion Incorporated EPI And With Their Help Three Of His Demos Were Featured On Empress Mullings-Golding’s Radio Show That Same Year. Lewis Went On To Headline The Very First "Hellshire Togetherness Concert" Hosted By EPI In 2009 Accompanied By Label Mate J Miller And Other Young Artist From Within The Hellshire Community. He Also Entered Popular Talent Competitions Such As The RETV Talent Search In 2010 And Magnum Kings And Queens Of Dancehall In 2011 Where He Gained A Lot Of Exposure. Leon Draws Inspiration To Pursue His Career From Artistes Such As Jah Cure Dennis Brown Busy Signal Assassin Vybz Kartel And Sean Paul. He Signed To Aces Music Media In 2012 And Has Released His First Single For The Label Titled “Time Alone” On The Inception Riddim.
