Licaoni Was Formed In 2001 When Federico Camboni Bass Dario Di Gennaro Keyboards Luigi Germani Guitar Ivan Lupelli Bass And Luca Pacioni Drums Finally Formed A Fixed Line-Up After A Number Of Previous Musical Experiences Together. They Were Later Joined In 2004 By Lorenzo Mandelli Sax . It Has Always Been The Band’s Firm Intention Not To Make Up-Front Decisions About The Kind Of Music It Intends To Produce But To Simply Mix Together With No Set Criteria The Ideas And Musical Influences Of All The Band Members Without Tying Itself To A Single Genre Or Choosing A Specific Identity. The Band Has Always Remained Faithful To This Way Of Producing Music Observing Only One Fundamental Criteria As In Frank Zappa’s Philosophy That Music Can Be Both Profound And Ironic At The Same Time. The Result Is That In Their Works You Can Find Funky Beats 70’s Dance Music Free Jazz Hard And Progressive Rock Folk Music And Lounge All Living Together Often In The Same Track In A Single Schizophrenic Mosaic. In Effect Right From The Start Experimentation Has Been More Of A Necessity Than A Choice For Licaoni. With Two Bass Players In Their Final Line-Up – One For Rhythm And Low Frequencies The Tall One And The Other For Melody And Higher Frequencies The Short One – They Were Never Going To Be An ‘ordinary’ Band! The Band Knows No Limits Either Regarding The Sounds That They Use And The Extent To Which These Sounds Are Manipulated By Modern Technology. Licaoni Have Already Made A Name For Themselves In The Music Scene In Rome Playing Live In Many Clubs And Festivals And Making Soundtracks For Theatrical Works. In 2003 They Recorded Their First Live Demo “Frammenti Dal Vivo” “Live Fragments” And In 2005 They Recorded Their First Studio Demo “Anomali Domestici” “Domestic Abnormalities” – But The Title Is Also A Pun On The Expression ‘animali Domestici’ Which Simply Means ‘household Pets’ . _____________________________________
