The Dedication Orchestra Realized The Goal Of Its Organizers Evan Parker And Steve Beresford Noted British Jazz Artists To Pay Homage To The Landmark South African Ex-Pat Ensemble The Blue Notes. The Members Of The Band Who Retranscribed And Arranged The Scores Of The Blue Notes Were The Cream Of British Jazz Including Keith Tippett Kenny Wheeler And Elton Dean. The Last Surviving Original Blue Note Louis Moholo Played Drums On The Groups Two Albums Spirits Rejoice And Ixesha. The Original Scores Were Lost In A Flood Of Chris McGregor's Home In France But Fortunately The Records Were Part Of Every London Jazz Heart And Mind. The Group Plays Compositions By Mongezi Feza Dudu Pukwana Johnny Dyani Moholo The Blue Notes Guiding Force Pianist Chris McGregor Who Put The Group Together In 1962 And A Couple Of Tunes By Bassist Harry Miller Who Played In Chris McGregor's Brotherhood Of Breath Band. By 1990 All But Louis Moholo Had Passed On. The Dedication Orchestra Paid Sweet Homage To The Band That Influenced So Much Of British Jazz And To Be Sure Their Influence Was Felt In America And Throughout The Entire World Of Jazz. read less
