Grand Alias Formed in the summer of 2011, guitar/vocalist Josh Verbryke and drummer Jason Tingley banded together to form alternative rock band Grand Alias. After a long history of collaboration dating back to 1995, the two seasoned musicians played in grunge punk act Rezidu, performing festivals, coffee houses and outdoor events. After disbanding Rezidu in 1998, the two sought out a new sound and founded the power trio Pulse. Drawing from heavier influences such as Helmet, Filter, Black Sabbath etc., Pulse went onto record several demos and lunged at any opportunity to perform live with their new set of bottom end riff rock. In 2000 Pulse came to an end as Verbryke went on to pursue a solo recording project he titled Etched, and as Tingley expanded his role to lead vocalist for live metal act Elements Crashing. Leading us to present day, while still maintaining their friendship and a mutual respect for each others pursuits; a lengthy musical hiatus has led them to Grand Alias. Fusing experience, style and influences, Grand Alias released their debut self titled album in November 2011. The album reverts back to the riff driven influences of alterna-metal as other influences bleed through with atmospherics, simple effective song structures, and edgy yet humble harmonies. Vulnerable, passionate, poetic, mood driven and ready to rock..Grand Alias is currently pursuing all avenues to carve a niche in their own little corner of hell.
