Hyperflip was originally an alternative name for dariacore, a microgenre known for its use of prominent vocal samples, chaotic production and inspiration from other EDM genres like future bass, dubstep and jersey club.
Starting in late 2022 to early 2023, the hyperflip scene started blowing up in Japanese spaces with the netlabel Lost Frog Productions heavily promoting the microgenre. Since then, hyperflip has more or less became a subgenre of dariacore.
Compared to more traditional dariacore, Japanese hyperflip producers will often use J-pop and anime songs - all while taking inspiration from the broader anime scene, video games and Japanese culture.
That being said, the term is still used occasionally as an alternative name for dariacore.
