Norwegian 'deathjazz' outfit Agabas has proven that extreme metal should indeed be equipped with a jazz saxophone and that it will remain heavy as shit. This playful genre blend comes with zero compromise on pure metal quality as the sporadic free jazz elements fuse in with blast beats and chugs, leaving no intensity on the table. In the likes of bands like Meshuggah, Gojira, Kvelertak, Mastodon, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge, and Shining the guys in Agabas present a modern progressive metal sound with their own unique flavour to it. The band is making their way up through the Norwegian underground scene, proving their live act to be as unhinged as their music. Their debut album 'Voluspå' dropped in 2021 to a great reception with critics calling it "the freshest breath of the year in Norwegian metal" and predicting the band to be "Norway's new hope." After playing at by:Larm, the biggest music industry festival in the country, in 2021 the band was booked to countless shows and festivals the subsequent year. They are currently keeping busy on the road while finishing their sophomore album scheduled for 2023.
