Modern life has given many an urge for escapism to a more primal lifestyle, where the modern day's necessities fade away and only mankind’s connection to nature remain. Koudvuur (Dutch for gangrene) tries to encapsulate the sounds around a campfire, making music with what nature has given us. Improvisation-based, no song will be the same, but familiarly comforting, and leave you longing for the wilderness. Stemming from the mind of M.V. in the summer of 2023, he involved Y.S. (Angmodnes) and J.V. (Ex-Apotelesma) in his musical journey. Having a considerable history together, a first single came quickly apparent. Lyrically Koudvuur takes influences and worldviews that incorporate the old tongues of proto-Germanic and English, and Old-Dutch. Wardruna, Osi & The Jupiter, Forndom and (acoustic) Agalloch are among the bands where we get our musical inspiration from. Logo by Míchel Scholman from Black Sea Studio.
