The Qanun Azerbaijani ; Turkish: kanun; qanún or kanun (Arabic: قانون qānūn, plural قوانين qawānīn; Persian: قانون qānūn;Armenian: քանոն k’anon; Greek: κανονάκι) is a string instrument found in the 10th century in Farab in Turkestan. Its traditional music is based on Maqamat. It is essentially a zither with a narrow trapezoidal soundboard.
