Randall Hank Williams (born May 26, 1949), known professionally as Hank Williams Jr. or Bocephus, is an American singer-songwriter and musician. His music blends elements of rock, blues, and country. He is the son of country musician Hank Williams, the father of Sam Williams, Holly Williams, and Hank Williams III, and the grandfather of Coleman Williams. He is also the half-brother of Jett Williams. Williams began his career performing songs associated with his father and appeared on television at age fourteen in a December 1963 episode of "The Ed Sullivan Show," followed by a guest appearance on "Shindig!" in 1964. Over time, he developed his own musical style, particularly within the country rock and outlaw country genres. In 1975, Williams suffered a near-fatal fall while climbing Ajax Peak in Montana, which interrupted his career. After an extended recovery, he rebuilt his career and became known for his multi-instrumental abilities, including guitar, bass guitar, upright bass, steel guitar, banjo, dobro, piano, keyboards, saxophone, harmonica, fiddle, and drums. In 2020, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
