Hiraeth is a metalcore band from Iași, founded in october of 2015, initially as a Melodic-Death Metal act. Their first EP was Souls, released in 2017. The release of the single Hypnosis in 2018 acts as a bridge between the melodic death metal era and the new metalcore era which is still present today. The band released singles such as Ghosts, Home, a cover for Dragoste de Inchiriat, a popular Romanian pop song and it received some acclaim in their country.

The band released singles such as Ghosts, Home, a cover for Dragoste de Inchiriat, a popular Romanian pop song and it received some acclaim in their country. Over the years the band played in many of Romania's biggest cities, Iasi, Cluj, Brasov, Bucharest, Suceava, Sibiu and as well as in Republic of Moldova in Chisinau. The year 2019 was considered a glory year of the band, in March 2019 they were the opening acts for Greek Legends Rotting Christ, In addition to that, in the summer of 2019, it was a major milestone for Hiraeth, having won the Rockstadt Underground Artists 2019 which awarded Hiraeth with a slot at the Rockstadt Extreme Fest 2019, the biggest metal festival in Eastern Europe in Transylvania, playing in the same day with bands such as Katatonia, Paradise Lost and Betraying the Martyrs. In the summer of 2019 they embarked on a tour across Romania in order to promote their new song Ghosts which ended at Arenele Romane, opening for Bucovina, one of the most desired venues in Romania. 2020 marked the downfall of the band because of the Covid19 Pandemic. Hiraeth released the single "Home" and were ready to embark on a tour across Romania with plans on singing outside the country as well however once the lockdown was in effect, many dreams were shattered and changes happened. The band switched to a different approach, more aggressive and violent, with Whitechapel, Knocked Loose, Dealer, Thrown or Alpha Wolf influences being even more present. Hiraeth released the singles "Black Heart" "Der Himmel Braucht Dich Nocht Nicht" and "Samsara" during 2020-2022 before performing live for the first time since 2019. Nowadays the band is back in business, having reunited with founding guitarist Andrei Bojoga alongside with longtime guitarist Alex Popescu. Walls was released in the spring of 2024 and Hiraeth embarked on a small tour to promote the song. The band is still active and many more songs are going to be released in the future.
