Kabreet is a Yemeni-German music duo founded in 2014 by Yemeni visual artist and songwriter Ibi Ibrahim and German music producer Hanno Stecher aka Kalpour. The duo’s music combines Arabic lyrics and singing with percussion-based and synth-heavy music, transcending notions of "eastern" and "western" pop music and merging nostalgia with contemporary sounds. The duo released their Kickstarter funded debut album "Momken Bokra" in 2016. A year later, they received an award production grant from the Arab Funds for Arts and Culture for the making of their second album "Bidayat" , released in Summer 2017. After reuniting in April 2020, Kabreet released "Masafat", a 3-track EP written and produced during the first Covid lockdown in Berlin, followed by the singles "Waynak" and "Zu müde/ Awhamy" in 2023 and 2024.
