A band since 1998, the Transcend Klan has changed, matured and evolved over the years from an initial focus in hip-hop dance routines to full-fledged music and song. During its fledgling stage of development, Transcend fought to find its unique sound. The influences of reggae, soca, rock, ska and alternative music led to the fresh, distinctive sound that Transcend is now renowned for - reggae rock (also known as alternative reggae or 'alterna-reggae'). This unique sound is described as an intriguing fusion of the raunchy yet compelling feel of alternative rock and the 'rootsy', soulful vibe of reggae music. Their musical repertoire also includes pure alternative and reggae material, with a distinctive Transcend signature.
