The artistic force behind the idea of Van Gogh by Van Eck is Diederick van Eck, a passionate musician, singer and art lover. The Van Gogh by Van Eck project was produced in an intense collaboration with Tom Harriman and Pamela Phillips Oland. Together they created a series of songs which they call “A Musical Journey into the Heart and Soul of Vincent van Gogh.” Twelve of Vincent’s artworks–each a milestone in the artist’s development—influenced the songwriting, enabling the telling of Vincent’s story as if spoken by the artist. Van Eck has always been involved in music outside of a successful career in the financial industry. His love for art has always been part of his life. For a long time, his professional career prevented him from becoming involved in music full time. However, this changed in 1999 when he decided to focus solely on his passion for music. After launching his new company Private Sound which defines its "niche" in the music market by being a creative record company built to debt to the changing environment of music marketing. Since then, Diederick van Eck has recorded three CDs: That’s It, With a Wink & a Smile and December Feelings. In 2004, his song Back Together on the Beach was listed in the Dutch Mega Top 100.
