Evan McDonald (born May 22, 2007), known professionally as slayr, is an American recording artist and producer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is best known for his songwriting, as well as collaborating with acts such as tana and Steele 11. In an interview with Kids Take Over, slayr began recording music at the age of 11, despite his mother being so against it, and he learned how to produce off of instruments his mother got him. Slayr also enjoyed rock and rap music growing up, with his inspiration for rock being from Crush 40 and his rap inspiration from Lil Uzi Vert. Originally, before he was Slayer77 and slayr, he went as SwagSlayer, which he got inspiration from Demon Slayer. On April 22, 2022, slayr would release his breakthrough debut album lost files (exclusives), which gained attention on TikTok due to tracks such as “FOURTH GEAR CYPHER” and “Snakeman.” Following the release, it would propel slayr to reach his first 100,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Despite this early breakthrough, slayr would continue to release a slew of singles and tapes to help maintain his popularity, but he would slowly decline in numbers until November 5, 2025, when slayr would find resurgence in his career and release his second breakthrough mixtape Half Blood, to which he gained attention through social media for his melodic vocals and production throughout the project. The mixtape would briefly get taken down due to sample issues with the track “Power 4” but would be re-uploaded shortly afterwards under Columbia Records. Entering into 2026, slayr has released the deluxe version to Half Blood titled BLOODLUXE on March 6th, 2026, consisting of ten new tracks, a guest feature from Lucy Bedroque, and new production from the likes of prettifun, M8I, and many more. slayr is also expected to release a new studio album titled SEVENTH HEAVEN this same year. He will also be dropping an EP soon titled "No Peace"
