Death Disco

Death disco is a genre moniker—named after the Public Image Ltd. song—for dance-punk and alternative dance music with dark and experimental undertones derived from original post-punk, dark wave, gothic rock and post-rock, while strongly featuring the rhythms of funk and disco as well as house music. Bands that can be regarded as belonging to this trend include PiL themselves on Metal Box, A Certain Ratio, Section 25, 23 Skidoo, Chakk, Clock DVA and Cabaret Voltaire, while Liars and Xiu Xiu are later indie rock bands which could be said to have explored it.
