Consider Phlebas was a group of 4 completely different people that wanted to combine their differing flavours in music into one amalgamate. The original intention was to make a mixture between Dillinger Escape Plan and Dredg, but later on that was tuned down to "making something emo-ish, but then more difficult like". They recorded one demo, "entering the whirlpool", basing the songs, artwork, and band around notions from TS Eliott's "The Waste Lands".
