Jacques Joseph Charles Villeneuve (born 9 April 1971) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, and retired racing car driver. Jacques spent two years in CART in the mid-90s, winning the championship and Indianapolis 500 in 1995. The next year, he moved to Formula One with Williams, taking his first win at his fourth ever race. Following a controversial collision with Ferrari's Michael Schumacher in the final race of the 1997 season, he would win the World Drivers' Championship for that year. His career went into sharp decline after that, and he never won another race again. After retiring from F1 in 2006 he moved to his other passion, music. "Music has always been an important part of my life," the Canadian says. He released his first single, "Accepterais-tu?", in 2006. The single, a French-Canadian song, is Jacques' first offering from a tasty acoustic-rock album. His debut and only album to date, Private Paradise, was released in 2007. He's also known as "Gilles' Son" from his legendary father, Gilles Villeneuve. There was a very limited edition run of 5,000 copies available for purchase from Monday, June 26th 2006 at Jacques' own restaurant, Newtown, in Montreal (which he sold in 2009). He was added to the Canadian Walk of Fame in 1998, Sports Hall of Fame in 2010, and was named Canada's Athlete of the Year, receiving the Lou Marsh Trophy in 1995 and 1997.
