BIOGRAPHY: Wyckliffe Howland was playing in small clubs in Wheeling WVA when he was fourteen years old. Deborah Howland started on piano but has been playing the fretless bass for close to a decade. Like her husband, she is a relentless fan of the music of the Gershwins, Ellington, Johnny Mercer, and the swing/torch greats of yesteryear. Her philosophy comes from the Duke -"It don't mean a thing if it aint got the swing." Scott Shafer is a graduate of the University of Tennessee Chattanooga Music conservatory. He has been playing drums since age 7. Scott has had the pleasure of playing with some great artists, including Dizzy Gillespie, Buck Fell and Roger Wade. Gordon first picked up a sax in 5th grade, and has been playing ever since. He's played in several bands in the Cleveland area for the past 15 years, in a variety of styles. While adept at playing blues, rock and R&B, his passion is jazz. His favorite composers include Duke Ellington, Cole Porter and Antonio Carlos Jobim, and favorite sax players are Hank Mobley, Stan Getz and Stanley Turrentine. When not playing with the Dreamtones, Gordon takes requests from his children, James and Jennifer (ages 3 and 4), and instruction from his wife Suzi.
