Attica Static was formed in 2006 when four closely knit friends decided that their shared love for music, and in particular ‘Incubus’, would be enough reason to start a band. With Sam Fairman on guitar, Stephen McKeown on bass, Kris Rogers on drums and Darren Kierans taking charge of vocal duties, the band then under the name of Hotcarl prospered and went through the ranks in Dundalk and surrounding areas. Sam being the creative engine behind the band, drove the band on to bigger and better things, and given his unique musical background, he continued to pour everything he had into writing the most impressive pieces of music and song structures around today. Having gained then lost a member in a year, the band took a long break from performing but continued to experiment and write music together. Attica Static was the name chosen to represent a new chapter in how the band was to be seen, they've created a altogether unique sound taking together the style and panache of Incubus, the raw power and energy of At The Drive In, and the catchy rock hooks of Muse, to name but a few. The band, now all 20 years of age, sees itself as a totally new prospect. And have, in such a short time since the hiatus, raced to a huge EP launch and begun rocking stages all over the country, including memorable nights in the Spirit Store, Whelans, The Cellar & The Bailey. The frantic rise matched only by the energetic live performances that must not be missed.
