Right from the beginning in 2005 it is the intention of Dutch folkband Filthy Nelly to create a mixture of European Folk and balkanpunk, concerning mostly original songs written by frontman KataStrof. The band incorporates accordion and violin mixed with punkrock. In the summer of 2006 Filthy Nelly released their first demo, called “Fast Feet Galore”. The EP includes six original Filthy Nelly songs, recorded at the DK-studio of Günter Scholz in Gronau(D).

The band incorporates accordion and violin mixed with punkrock. In the summer of 2006 Filthy Nelly released their first demo, called “Fast Feet Galore”. The EP includes six original Filthy Nelly songs, recorded at the DK-studio of Günter Scholz in Gronau(D). The album has had airplay on several radio stations throughout Europe. Furthermore the EP reached the third position of the Lowlands Top 25, the alternative album-chart for Dutch bands. Several reviews in respected magazines like Music Maker underline the original approach of writing new and good quality folksongs as well as the passionate way of making music. The EP was a great success for the band. Throughout 2006-2008 the band played many gigs before large audiences in Holland, Belgium, France and Germany, (folk)festivals as well as clubs. One of the highlights was a show at the 2007 Folk Dranouter Festival: the biggest folkfestival of Europe. In 2008 the band started working on new material. Furthermore the band signed to an artist development/recording contract with dutch Indie label Silvox. In October 2010 the band released their first full-length album. On “Feztival!” Filthy Nelly mixes different styles like folk, punk, balkan, rock and reggae and creates its own identity, they call it “Euro Speedfolk”. The album “Feztival!” stands for a truly exciting travel through folk in 14 tracks, where the original folkpunk songs of KataStrof getting mixed up with the highly danceable sounds of European Folkmusic.
