Mighty Jukebox brings you that freshness! A Hip-Hop duo from Reykjavik, Iceland that is dedicated to making quality Hip-Hop music which is both banging and intelligent. Consisting of Fonetik Simbol (producer) and S.Creeezy (emcee) the Jukebox began making music in 2003 as a side project from Original Melody, a Hip-Hop group that both Fonetik and Creeezy had been a part of since 2002. The Jukebox released its debut album, The Eye of Thundera, in 2007 for free on coxbutter.com and following the positive response to their first album — Fonetik and Creeezy immediately started working on their next release. The sophomore album, which is titled ThunderCats, is heavily influenced by the popular ’80s cartoon show that both Fonetik and Creeezy grew up watching, and the album is set to feature some of the group’s favorite emcees from Rey-k to L.A. The Mighty Jukebox is inspired by that classic, golden-era Hip-Hop and driven by the nostalgia of youth culture; however, it does not simply look back, but instead seeks to use the past as a foundation for creating new and exciting Hip-Hop that borrows elements from various different sources — “taking one step back, just to take two forward.” The Mighty Jukebox has collaborated with a number of talented and up-and-coming artists such as Shawn Jackson, Co$$, Sene, as well as some local Icelandic artists. Fonetik Simbol has also produced for the likes of Chino-XL, Sabac Red and Copywrite. The group is influenced by such artists as Jay-Dee, Slum Village, Pete Rock, Miles Davis, GangStarr, Bone Thugs ‘N’ Harmony, Billy Preston, Tupac, Madlib, Herbie Hancock and Henry Mancini.
