RAZA רזא explores the feminine voice in old Hasidic melodies. This project is the first of its kind, a full-length album of women singing traditional nigunim. Led by Chana Raskin and a core group of harmony singers, Kapelya features more than 20 voices and a small band of virtuosic instrumentalists. It emerges from an attempt to listen more deeply to sacred, traditional melodies, to ask questions of them, to open up and hear them whisper something new into the world.
