Ruby and the Vines, fronted by vocalist/bassist Binisa Bonner, fuse influences as diverse as Congolese roots music, jazz, afro-beat and reggae. The line-up is completed by guitarist Greg Sanders and drummer Ben Assiter, who complement Binisa's soulful, frank vocal delivery and deftly melodic bass lines with a meticulous groove. Hotly tipped by Max Reinhardt (The Shrine, BBC Late Junction) as a ''wild, hot and about to happen new trio", Ruby and the Vines debuted their unique brand of afro-rock in June 2010 to great acclaim at the Celebrating Sanctuary festival, hosted by BBC London. Supporting Adrian Roye & The Exiles at the Luminaire in July, saw reviewer Andy Snipper (Music-News.com) proclaim, "I found myself smitten... they have a fascinating combination of reggae, Hi-Life and Afrobeat all wrapped up with a very stylish vocal sound from Binisa Bonner. Greg Sanders guitar was sitting right on the edge of tunefulness but perfectly matched Bonner’s jazzy styles. Very well worth keeping an eye open for in the future". Most recently, the band played at Rich Mix, supporting the Grammy award winning singer, Dobet Gnahoré continuing to build their live reputation for infectious Afro-funk with a post-punk bite. "Binisa Bonner, frontwoman of RATV steals the show with her Florence Welch-styled vocalings". Time Out http://www.myspace.com/rubyandthevines
