Scarecore is one of the lesser known genres, it isn't very known to many people. It's a fusion between hardcore and horror, fusing regular elements of hardcore such as screaming and heavy guitar breakdowns with elements that might be seen in a horror film and such things that could be considered scary, such as violin scratches and door creaking noises. Singers usually develope a technique unique to their voice to sing in a creepy or scary voice, usually with shaking in their voice and random changes in volume.

It can be associated with the goth or emo cultures, as the artists usually reflect these, but not all scarecore bands are gothic or emotive. It's similar to horror punk, but still has some very noticeable differences.
Scarecore concerts often include tons of special effects, such as storm noises (thunder, rain, etc.), flashing lights (could be set to the lightning noises, if used), fog machines, and other various things. The stage is often decorated in concerts at higher quality venues, with items such as spiderwebs and skulls.
The wardrobe and style of scarecore artists, as previously stated, usually reflects those of the goth and emo cultures, with things such as long, black hair with a swept fringe, lots of chains, and makeup such as heavy eyeliner, and occasionally black lipstick. The artists could wear things such as military jackets, trench coats, combat boots, etc. and almost everything they wear is usually black or some other dark colour.
A good example of scarecore music is the song The Used - "The Bird And The Worm".
