Terror plugg is a subgenre of Plugg which emerged in the early 2020s, characterized by heavily distorted 808s that create a high-frequency "screechy" sound, derived from the bass of Dark Plugg. Producer boolymon is credited as having invented the genre with his production on the EP Bezerk. It was further pioneered by rappers such as Squillo, Smokingskul, wildkarduno and LAZER DIM 700, and producers such as PurpTokyo, Twovrt and Goxan.

Terror plugg songs are usually very short with rappers yelling their verses or using very raw vocal mixing to match the abrasive beat. Distortion plugins and ring modulators are applied to the 808s to create the high-frequency effect. Aside from the bass, terror plugg melodies are typically very simple, due to the bass overpowering the mix, with some being either akin to regular plugg, Ambient Plugg or dark plugg. The overall hi-hat and drum patterns usually follow the standards set by dark plugg.
More popular producers to tackle the sound such as TDF and perc40 have developed a notably brighter form using the 'lullaby' melodies typical in plugg. TDF in particular uses very Pi'erre Bourne-inspired melodies on his songs. Goxan aims for a futuristic sound with a light Electronic Dance Music influence. Boolymon's main style maintains the dark plugg melodies the genre was built upon to create a more ominous atmosphere.
