Wigger slam is a neologism coined by blogger Sergeant D ((finn mckenty)) (known for his articles and blogs within the websites Stuff You Will Hate and MetalSucks) and is a term used to designate slam death metal bands exhibiting influences from hip-hop culture, which, depending on the band in question, may manifest in the form of music style, lyrical themes, manner of dress displayed by band members or some combination thereof.
Although the term "wigger" typically denotes a Caucasian person, wigger slam may be considered a race-neutral label (Japanese bands such as Infernal Revulsion have been cited as examples of wigger slam) as well as a reappropriation of the term "wigger" with positive or neutral connotations. Members of slam bands Waking the Cadaver and Short Bus Pile Up have responded negatively to being categorized as wigger slam, dismissing the term as derogatory.
Other purported wigger slam bands than those previously mentioned include Cephalotripsy, Glossectomy, Soils of Fate and Vomit Remnants. Bands parodying tropes associated with wigger slam include Engutturalment Cephaloslamectomy, FrogKill, New Yorkment, Publikk Enema and The Slamburglars.
Contrary to common belief, there is no inherent connection between wigger slam and deathcore or beatdown hardcore.
