Responsible for one of the best debut rock albums of recent memory, Muffalo hit the ground running with Love Songs and Battle Hymns, a ten track collection of songs that celebrates the art of dark pop composition. Official release date is September 16th 2011, Mexico's Independence Day but uk will be 26th. The brainchild of Derek Myers, Muffalo is an original anti-hero champion nursing a broken heart and hang -over. Muffalo has regaled listeners with a modern day "Street Fighting Man" homage, picking up where The Stones left off in 68 and Sabbath did in 76. They bring to the table their own unique interpretation of what a classic album should be, combining great song writing with sonic dynamics and ear wrenching volume. As CobWebb said in their recent live review of their SXSW Showcase: “The band's amped-up garage rock went straight for a sucker punch and kept at it. I could see these guys pairing up with Meat Puppets for a nice regional run. Raw, earnest, yet not self-important, this is straight up rock and roll. Color me impressed. ” Rounding out the ensemble are Brett Netson on guitar (Caustic Resin/Built to Spill), Dean Gunderson on bass (Cat Butt/Jack-O-Fire) and Gene Trautmann on drums (Miracle Workers/Queens of the Stone Age/Eagles of Death Metal). In addition to the band's impressive pedigree they attracted the interest of legendary drummer/producer Hunt Sales (Iggy Pop/David Bowie) and guitarist / producer Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers/Sublime) who produced and mixed this record.
