The AMP (Almighy Playaz) from Northside Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The line that separates keeping it “real” from living to represent the “real” is as thin as the spaghetti string thong dangling in the ass crack of a Luke dancer. Though thin, it is one that is rarely crossed or violated due to its governance by Hip Hop’s golden rule: if you ain’t lived it, don’t speak on it! Stemming from this rule, the boundaries of rap music have grown from an “East Only” existence and expanded to the point of Western and Southern inclusion. The Midwestern contribution, which has blown during the last five years, is nearly etched in stone by the likes of Nelly, Eminem and BoneThugs bringing the pain, however, its next level of greatness remains to be seen, heard and felt until now. Enter Hip Hop’s newest rule AMP (Almighty Playaz) G. A. M. E., which is definitely slated to alter the current state of rap music. The AMP rule states the following: 1) never represent the playa lifestyle if you have to cake to get the pussy. 2) never snitch on the next playa to come up. 3) never claim representation that is beyond your level of application, especially concerning “how the G. A. M. E. is played”. Not since the “West Coast Connection” masterpiece, authored by Ice Cube, Mac 10 and Dubb C, has a rap trio better exposed the intracaces of running G. A. M. E. to the masses. In a manner that would make Bishop Don Wand show love, AMP, do more than play whores and slam Cadillac doors, they lyrically paint vivid pictures that blind listeners can visualize while simplifying the complexities of a playas lifestyle in terms that a child could understand. Terms that are “real” to the point where they provide the listener solace in knowing merely hearing the AMP rule is akin to experiencing being a playa without taking the risks. The risks, like the stakes, are extremely high, but AMP is prepared to deliver on all levels, especially those concerning catchy lyrics and trump tight production. AMP, which consist of JayMan (the Pimp), D. Tella (the Playa) & P. Dubb (the Panty Whetter) hail from Kansas, Oklahoma and New York perspectively; East meets Midwest, which the AMP edge. In the game now three strong years, the AMP staple is their understanding of “how game” should be properly applied, not just toward phat asses, but in all phases of hustling, all phases of life. “We make music for people to listen to and live by, its our goal to expose ourselves to the point where the average person can relate to AMP struggles and triumphs,” states P. Dubb. “AMP is all about the love for the game, the music and ourselves – we spread love and get love.” AMP offers a variety of Hip Hop experiences which shapes their individual sound, point of view and delivery. “AMP is about keeping it real and gangsta, giving love to those who give love to us and putting Oklahoma on the map,” states JayMan. “There is no way a person can hear an AMP record and not gain game to live by, we are here to change thangs!” It is this unusual mixture that is the backbone and foundation of the group’s lyrical presentation which is laced with clever playa euphemisms and witty street-terminology realisms for those rabid Hip Hop listeners to appreciate. “Our music is geared to the ladies, they play a major part in how game is ran, received and given, without them AMP’s perspective on putting it down would be totally different,” states D. Tella. “Each AMP song is created with a specific intention, the intention of the G. A. M. E cd is to solidify our place in Hip Hop history and to tell the AMP story.” Their ability to deliver is evident on the AMP debut cd, entitled “G. A. M. E.”, which is self exploratory glimpse into a day in the life of the AMP, simply put, a “how to manual” for the want-to-be playa. The cd, which contains 13 of the hottest tracks heard in most recent times, is filled with more banging than the movie COLORS or a cheap porno flick. The white hot selections are “Caking,” “Pressure,” and “405” The anthem of the cd is found on a song entitled “Talking Bout Them Playas,” which is as smooth as a 40oz. bottle of Grey Goose, but cut rough as freshly rocked crack. The AMP sound is nothing less than addictive, in that it gives the heads game while giving the asses fuel to shake, the perfect blend. The perfect bend of rules that for all intent purposes are never broken but typically reject newness unless it is formed in the likeness of preceding rules. Second AMP rule, get G. A. M. E., especially if you have none…
