Kim Chung-ha (Korean: 김청하; born Kim Chan-mi on February 9, 1996), known professionally as Chung Ha and stylized as CHUNG HA, is a South Korean singer and dancer currently under MORE VISION. She first gained public recognition in 2016 after finishing fourth on Mnet’s survival show Produce 101, later debuting as a member of the project girl group I.O.I, which disbanded in 2017. Following the group’s disbandment, Chung Ha emerged as a solo artist and quickly established herself as one of K-pop’s most versatile female performers. Raised in Dallas, Texas for eight years before returning to South Korea, she is fluent in both English and Korean, a background that has shaped her global appeal and performance-driven artistry. Prior to her solo debut, she trained for several years, including time under JYP Entertainment, and auditioned for YG Entertainment before joining M&H Entertainment in 2016. Chung Ha officially debuted as a soloist in 2017 with the pre-release single Week, followed by her debut EP Hands On Me. The release, led by the tropical house title track Why Don’t You Know, peaked at #8 on the Gaon Albums Chart and marked the beginning of her steady rise as a solo act. In January 2018, she returned with her second EP Offset, featuring the breakout hit Roller Coaster, a career-defining track that significantly expanded her mainstream recognition. Throughout the following years, Chung Ha continued to refine her sound with critically acclaimed releases, including her first full-length album Querencia (2021), a genre-spanning project that showcased her artistic ambition and performance range. In July 2022, she released Bare&Rare, Pt. 1, the first part of her second studio album, led by the single Sparkling. Although plans for Pt.2 were ultimately halted due to internal circumstances at her former agency, the project marked a more introspective and polished phase of her career. In early 2023, Chung Ha departed from MNH Entertainment following the expiration of her contract, openly reflecting on creative dissatisfaction during that period. A new chapter began on October 10, 2023, when she signed with Jay Park’s label MORE VISION, signaling a renewed artistic direction. Under her new label, Chung Ha returned with the digital single album Eenie Meenie in March 2024, led by the title track featuring Hongjoong of ATEEZ, alongside the B-side I’m Ready, which highlighted her strengths as a performer through a dedicated dance performance video. This was followed by the release of the special digital single Algorithm in August 2024. She later expanded her discography with seasonal releases, including her first Christmas album Christmas Promises (2024), and returned in February 2025 with her fifth EP Alivio, led by the single Stress. In December 2025, she released her second holiday album Christmas Promises: Again, continuing to build a consistent and evolving solo catalog. Recognized for her genre-fluid sound, precision in performance, and strong artistic identity, Chung Ha remains one of the most respected soloists to emerge from the post-I.O.I generation.
