UG (stylized as ug and also known as ug00001, ug#0001, etc.) is an up and coming producer based in Seattle, Washington, United States. The letters "ug" stand for "unfortunate girl," referencing a particularly popular anime pixel art shock gif. It's worth noting that most of ug's online profiles/usernames are entirely disconnected from the name/abbreviation "unfortunate girl," and so referring to him as anything similar/in reference to any name besides simply "ug" would likely be unexpected or otherwise inappropriate. Most of his tracks would likely be classified as "remixes" by the general public, and he actively produces tracks stemming from numerous subgenres of music. Some of his more popular music draws from elements of breakcore/dnb genres, but the music he releases most actively as of 2023 could be accurately described as club music, most notably Jersey club. ug's Jersey-inspired tracks are particular in that he consistently uses complex sampling methods and unique-sounding drums and sounds that are usually loud, fast, and/or very heavy. ug has been at least semi-consistently producing for around 6 years, and his first beats were trap-inspired. He is affiliated with (as well as close with the members of) groups including but not limited to Majin Krew, Messiahs, and STXRZ. "UG" may also be scrobbling from the guitar tablature website "Ultimate-Guitar.com". The website, as well as containing music news, guitar video lessons, equipment and album reviews, contains a forum where users can discuss whatever they wish, sub-forums include "Riffs and Recordings", "Modern Rock", "Classic Rock" and an "Off topic discussion area", entitled "The Pit". Users from the site entered a competition to have their music put together on an album, and the winners were amalgamated and collected into one 19 track download only album, entitled "What's Next?(UG Original Album)". Subsequently, a three part album, entitled "Pitropolis" (45 songs) and a Christmas album ("The UG Christmas Album") have also been released in a similar manner. The artists were not paid and it all happened through the website due to the users' love of music.
