Vocal group „a:m [ambermusic]” was founded in July of 2006 in Riga, Latvia. At this point 5 singers aged 22 to 27 form the core of the group. Most members of the group are pursuing their studies in different schools and universities of Latvia and Estonia. Only two months after the foundation of „a:m [ambermusic]” - in August 2006 - first recordings were made in a record studio. These recordings were included on CD Green Fields which was released in August 2006 shortly thereafter. On 15 August „a:m [ambermusic]” started its first two week concerttour with a repertoire of sacral music. Swedish composer Steve Dobrogosz's cycle Cantica was chosen as the central piece of the tour. In November 2006 „a:m [ambermusic]” relased the first single with two Christmas songs a’cappella – Christmas (Ziemassvētki) by Z.Muktupāvels and Winter Wonderland by F.Bernard both arranged by „a:m [ambermusic]”. October 2007 was creative and successful month for vocal group „a:m [ambermusic]” . We presented our work - One year celebration concert in two parts, participated in The Rimini International Choral Competition. Our success - the 1st place in Chamber Choirs category (93,75 of 100 points). We also introduced our vocal group to German auditorium in the same month. We're giving many concerts at public and private events. As jazzy we want to mention to our performances in Youth Culture Day's, at Latvian University, Reval Hotel Latvia, National Tax Board; Concerts in Croatia, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, United Kingdom. In its repertoire „a:m [ambermusic]” mostly focuses on sacral music, music of Latvian composers and arrangements of Latvian folk songs. Jazz and popular music aren't neglected fields either. „a:m [ambermusic]” has its musical ambitions not only in getting acquainted with different genres of music, but also in getting a thorough impression of music of different historical periods and styles. Vocal group „a:m [ambermusic]” mostly performs a cappella, but the singers also gladly enrich their performance with the accompaniment of different instruments.
